NOLA Noise is an editorial guide exploring New Orleans’ music culture, created to connect visitors with the city’s musical history, venues, and contemporary scene. The project began as a four-page school assignment and expanded into a 20+ page publication designed to function as a real-world guide rather than a classroom exercise. A visual language built from expressive typography, photography, illustration, layered textures, and a limited color system organizes information across music venues, cultural institutions, historical sites, and neighborhood guides. The publication was physically produced in an edition of 100 and distributed throughout New Orleans, where copies were quickly taken from participating venues and businesses, leading several locations to ask about another edition. The project later expanded into a companion app concept incorporating interactive mapping and additional guide features, extending the publication’s information and experience into a digital format.
